Stewardship Advisory Services

The L&P Stewardship and Business advisory team offer a wide range of stewardship related services to leadership teams of religious congregations and directors / trustees of charitable organisations. We understand that a significant responsibility of those in leadership roles is the stewardship of the organisation's resources, so that they may be most effectively deployed to support its mission or charitable activities, both now and into the future.

In advising such groups, the work of L&P spans three broad categories:

  • Assessment and Advice regarding Resources and Organisational Management Issues. This aspect focuses on the management of the key resources of personnel, property and finances.
  • Strategic Planning. With a clear understanding of resources, we offer assistance to an organisation in defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy.
  • Education and Communication. Now as never before, there is a need for all religious congregations and charitable organisations to effectively communicate their values and how they are expressed through their work.

Within these 3 categories we work closely with our clients in the following key areas:

  • Stewardship and Business Advisory Services
  • Assessment of Resources
  • Financial Advisory and Management Services
  • Investment Management and Advisory Services
  • Human Resource Management Services
  • Governance Advisory Services
  • Company Secretarial Services

A culture of open and effective communication cannot happen overnight. It requires education - initially within the organisation and subsequently of co-workers, associated organisations and those whom you serve.

L&P has developed and conducted tailored education and communication programmes at provincial or congregational level within many congregations, and at board level in charitable organisations.

Assessment of Resources

We define stewardship as the utilisation of resources in a manner that provides for those who are your responsibility and ensures that your mission can be discharged both now and in the future.

L&P has worked for over 25 years in helping organisations understand the key issues affecting resource capacity and has developed a unique method for assessing such resources using specialised techniques and processes.

Typically, a Resource Assessment carried out by L&P is:

  • Grounded in proven quantitative analysis combining statistical, financial and investment-related projections.
  • Modified by qualitative analysis of the particular ethos and circumstances of the client organisation and the experience of similar organisations.
  • Developed to consider all known, or potential, factors that are likely to impact on future availability of resources.
  • Independent and objective.

Strategic Planning

With a clear understanding of resources, we offer assistance to an organisation in defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy.

The preparation of a strategic plan is a multi-step process covering vision, mission, objectives, values, strategies, goals and programmes. A satisfactory strategic plan must be realistic and attainable and also:

  • Clearly explain your mission in order to inform, motivate and involve.
  • Serve as a framework for decisions or for securing support / funding approval.
  • Provide a basis for more detailed short term planning.
  • Assist in performance monitoring.
  • Stimulate change and become the building block for the next plan.

Education and Communication

Now as never before there is a need for all religious congregations and charitable organisations to effectively communicate their values and how they are expressed through their work. Factors driving this need include the growing practice of collaborative models for ministry, increasing regulation and the general rise in demand for accountability of organisations.

A culture of open and effective communication cannot happen overnight. It requires education - initially of within the organisation and subsequently of co-workers, associated organisations and those to whom you serve.

L&P has developed and conducted tailored education and communication programmes at provincial or congregational level within many congregations and at board level in charitable organisations.
